Prayers - Pentecost 2018 New Life Lutheran Church of Dripping Springs, Texas

Garden Blessing

Let us pray.

Gracious and giving God, you are the Gardener, and we are the laborers in your fields. Bless this small garden, this portion of your harvest, and bless the land on which is sits, the church made up of trees and paths, fields and worship spaces.

Lord, in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

God of abundance, bless this soil, make it rich to produce a bountiful harvest for those in need. God, bless these plants, help them grow in your good time. God, bless the hands that labor in this place, including the work of Karen, our garden coordinator, Julie, who harvests and brings food to Helping Hands, Jenni and Al, who water and mulch, Jim who builds beds, and the hands of the many others gathered here who tend the garden you cause to grow. Help us grow in our faith as we garden here.

Lord, in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

God of sunshine and rain, storm, wind and calm, bless this new water collection system. Bless those who built and tend it, and gave materials for it, including Greg, Donna, Jim, Robbie, and the hands of others gathered here who have helped in so many ways. Send gentler and steady rains, we pray, to water this garden.

Lord, in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

God of open arms, bless the children who will come here this summer for Gardening Camp, to learn about you, through gardening and nature, and through Bible stories and working to serve our neighbors. We give you thanks for the work of our gardening camp coordinator, Julie, and all of those hands that will help children grow in their faith. Bless our camp and keep all of what we do rooted in you.

Lord, in your mercy,

Hear our prayer.

We the laborers, commend this garden to you, the Great Gardener. Bless it in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ.

And all of the people said,

Amen.
