Holy Week at New Life
Holy Week at New Life Lutheran Church in Dripping Springs is special. Plan to mark this important time in this unique place.
Sunday, April 14 - Palm Sunday
9 a.m. Worship with Procession
We process, following our new tree of life processional cross, waving branches and shouting "Hosanna!" remembering Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. We use native branches from the New Life land: poverty weed! In worship, the passion is read.
Thursday, April 18 - Maundy Thursday
6:30 p.m. Worship with Agape Dinner
This is one of the favorite New Life services of the year! We worship and have communion around tables together. After dinner, we wash each others' feet as Jesus did and commanded.
Friday, April 19 - Good Friday
6:30 p.m. Stations of the Cross / Via Cruces
Trail makers are hard at work at New Life getting the trails ready for us to walk the stations on Good Friday. We meet to pray then, with a map and written guide to the scriptural stations, we walk the trails each at our own pace, returning for a final prayer and song together. There will be an option for those who do not want to walk the whole trail (almost a mile across the property). This solemn service is powerful in our outdoor setting.
Sunday, April 21 - Easter Vigil Sunrise Service
We begin in the dark, waiting for the sun to rise. The beautiful exultet is chanted, along with an ancient set of readings designated for the great night of waiting. A simple service. Bring a flashlight for walking in darkness.
Sunday, April 21 - Resurrection Day Worship
We break out the Alleluia and our most joyful songs! This is the grand celebration of the church year!
Sunday, April 21 - Easter Egg Hunt and Brunch
Pastor Carmen will tell a story to younger children as older children hide eggs and brunch is set up. Then egg hunt and eating begin! Christ is risen! And it is time to celebrate!
