ABOUT NEW LIFE
At New Life,
we seek to deepen our relationship with God
by serving in our community,
worshiping with nature,
and valuing children.
We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We worship outdoors, year round. We care for the beautiful piece of the Texas Hill Country with which we have been entrusted, and we create space on the land for others to enjoy nature and sanctuary. We value and intentionally include children. We work together in our community, getting to know and serving our neighbors. We do Bible study and prayer groups out in the community, too. Come and worship with us, serve or study or pray with us, and see if this is a place that could help you deepen your relationship with God.
New Life Lutheran Church is located at 1121 Buffalo Canyon Drive, Dripping Springs TX 78620
You'll find us on the north end of Dripping Springs - off of Ranch Road 12, across from Dripping Springs Elementary School.
We are adjacent to Dripping Springs Ranch Park and the Event Center, and Harrison Hills subdivision.
A time of change...
Pastor Carmen Retzlaff was the mission developer and pastor here at New Life from 2012 to 2020, and helped this congregation grow into its mission and ministry as an outdoor church, and one that radically included children.
New Life was planted as a mission start in 2004 by Pastor Jamie Bouzard, then pastor of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Wimberley. Pastor Brad Highum served New Life as an intern then pastor from 2007 to 2011, in its early days in a rented office space on Frog Pond Lane.
Now New Life is in the process of calling a new pastor for a new phase - we are growing and continuing to grow in our faith. We are excited about what God is planning next, and praying for the pastor the Spirit is leading to New Life.
Damian is a jazz pianist. He tours the world with bands, is an instructor at Contemporary Music School of Austin, and we are blessed to have him leading our New Life Worship Team on Sundays.
Although trained classically on the works of Chopin, Beethoven, and Bach, Damian became attracted to jazz at the start of his freshman year of high school. After high school, he attended Texas A&M University – Kingsville (TAMUK) on a music scholarship and held the position of pianist in the university’s top jazz ensemble for three years. He then transferred to Texas State University where he also earned spots in the university’s top jazz ensemble and small groups.
Damian’s past performances include the Texas Association of Music Schools, the National Association of Schools of Music and Steinway & Sons. He has also had the privilege to perform along side many great musicians such as Paquito d’Rivera, Claudio Roditi, Wayne Bergeron, Frank Wess, Butch Miles, Bob Mintzer, John Fedchock, Taylor Eigsti, Jamey Aebersold, and teacher and mentor Freddie Mendoza.
